Hey Ron,As best I know the term "compactron" only applies to the 12 pin base/socket that has the same diameter as the Novar base/socket. When I serviced TVs in the 1970s we probably called tubes with both these bases "compactrons" but I think GE meant the term to refer to the 12 pin while the Novar is an RCA "innovation."
