I have done a lot of tube swapping in the AN M3 phono. I mean a lot.The following is a list of the very best tubes I have found. For the power supply the Brimar 6X5GT is the best I've tried in this position. The ECL82 and OB2's I found to be best are NOS Mullard's. For value go for the NOS GE ECL82 and OB2. They are labelled GE but say made in Great Britain on the older ones. Those are indeed Mullards and cost a lot less than the Mullard branded tubes.
For the 5687 no need to compare. The older black plate Tung Sol JTL-5687 is the best there is. No contest. I have tried a lot of 5687's. The Tung Sols are without peer in the M3.
