Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ

Re: These are Tungsrams Hungarian E88CC and NOT Siemens

I purchased the tubes and they said I could return them if I don't like them. They match the picture and have the orange globe logo towards the left of the picture you see. The owner said that only Siemens tubes has a tag with what appears to be a number stamped on it on the support between the lower plate and the middle plate (forget the proper term). The tag is wrapped around one side of the support. He showed me an earlier Siemens tube that had it stamped on the upper part of the frame. He said they were likely later East German production. The top of the tube has 4 evenly spaced ridges on it. I could find no other markings on the tubes, except for the letter D centered on the inside of the tube bottom between the first and last pins. The shield is round and smooth except for with 2 small raised areas on each side where it joins the supports. Does this help, or are they still Tungsrams?

If so, are they are comparable to Amperex or Siemens in terms of sound characteristics? Are these going to be overly warm, like a Mullard or lean more more towards the detailed side? I don't want to install them if they're not what I'm looking for.

Thanks!
