I have used Rogue for many years. I have the old M-120 Mono Blocks and the old 66 Linestage. I have used other Linestages that cost much more but the 66 has the textures that I prefer. As far as tubes for Rogue Amps, I assume you are using EH 6550 or KT 88's for power and JJ's for 12ax7s and perhaps JAN tubes for the 12au7 in the phase splitters. Here's my experience and 2 cents:1) Power Tubes I prefer the Shuguang KT-88sc tubes to any other. I have used the EH 6550's and upgraded to the Winged C KT-88's. I think the Penta Labs(made by Shuguang) are by far the best sounding in my Rogue. Check with Mark O'Brien but perhaps you can use EL-34's or the 6CA7's, if you prefer a golden midrange sound.
2) 12ax7's are very pricey tubes in NOS. I have used JJ and Winged C's and didn't like them. I found pairs of Mullards CV-4004 at a good price and used them for years. I have now upgraded them to Telefunken labled as Fisher and they are sweeeettt.
3) 12au7's in phase splitters: I have used 5963 JAN and went to the Mullard CV-4003 then to RCA Blackplates. That's a waste of money, but I bought so many at one time I could do this. Rogue works best with RCA tubes. I use RCA Blackplates my friends prefer the lush clear tops, again a waste of money in this area. However Brent Jessee Recording has Clear Tops for 35.00 a matched pair for unlabeled. Do not waste money on Bugle Boys, Tele/Siemens or Mullards.
I hope this helps, My friends and I spend a lot of time rolling tubes and comparing. I have quite a collection now. Other tubes are the New Sensor Gold Lions and the Groove Tube variation. I prefer the Shuguangs from Doug's tubes and they cost half of the others for a matched quad. Also Tube Depot/Doug's Tubes have tested used tubes for 12ax/12au variants if you want to get a feel for tubes with the Rogue. My Rogue in Triode mode has more power than s SS 150 watt amp! I know I tried to bi amp!
