HOK,I only have one Mullard 10M and that is- of all things- a gold pinned EF94 (6AU6). The thing is, all Mullards from the late era should have an etched Philips date code- probably with an "R" for the Mitcham factory. The codes quoted in the listing?: "III and 621" are not meaningful to me- and actually sound more like GE.
The other thing that concerns me is that there is an etched "12AX7A" in a clipped off rectangle which really strikes me as American- RCA and other Amoercian firms used something like this- but I've never seen it on a European tube. All the "IEC" tubes I've ever seen always make a point of saying so- all those little lines and boxes, plus if Mullard, there should be a "Made in Great Britain" somewhere.
Finally, I don't know why a tube branded "B&K" would be sold "new" in a Mullard 10M box. If the tubnes were meant for B&K test or medical equipment and reabranded, UI should think it would be sold in that brand box. I have RCA cleartop 12AU7s that are in matched pairs and these are branded Textronix and in Textronix boxes.
STill, as I say, I've never had a 10M 12AX7A, but I feel this auction may be- possibly- of an American tube that perhaps long ago got into a 10M box. The seller appears to be a guitar amp sort of fellow rather than an actual tube seller and may not know the subtle points.
-OR I could be wrong and it's the grestest bargain in the last 10 years! A real Mullard 10M 12AX7 NOS in a box might be a $200+ tube today.
With my lack of direct knowledge, I shouldn't like to state anything absolute and I hope Mullard enthusaists will comment.
Cheers,
Bambi B
