Jeffrey,
I have several speakers to choose from. High sensitivity speakers can invariably cause to produce a shhusshh /hiss if the volume is turned very high. This is not a volume anyone even the "deaf tin eared" could tolerate would an audio signal put through. My La Scalas are rated at 104 dB/watt/at 4 feet (not meter) a anything but the most highly perfected low noise, -really low noise engineeered system new tubes or not makes a hiss.
So what are these magic no noise whatsoever tubes? I think it has nothing to do wth microphonia, simply the way tubes function, at those extemes. BTW I finally got some terribly microphonic tubes. Some 6060s I found in an old codger's stash. So I know the difference.
