Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I have been rolling a lot of 12AU7 family tubes and some are NOS.
One that sounds very promising is the Philips SQ (Amperex Holland)
long plate D getter. I have compared it to the 7316 D getter (Amperex Holland), Siemens chrome plate ECC82, Siemens 5814A (with spatter shield) and many others. The Philips sounds very nice (lush with lots of detail and excellent bass) but somewhat veiled. Will that veil burn off as the tube breaks in? Is this the sound of a new tube? Your response are appreciated.Bart
