Re: Best way to "kid-proof" a tube based audio system??

Mount 'em high, cage 'em (or cabinet them), and keep 'em direct grounded. Watch where the speaker cables are run.

Also try to put something in front of any dial glass, as the earlier ones are often real glass.

The bigger risk is to speakers, particularly the floor standers. I've seen very expensive Thiel HF and dual-freq. drivers completely destroyed by kids who liked to "push the buttons". I remember some early to mid '70s JBLs that had metal grilles that seemed more kid friendly. But most are wide open to frontal impact and damage.

If it's a very valuable gear, it's better to box it up for a couple years and use a beater system until the kids gain some manners. That's what we did.
