I can't say for sure as I haven't used a Hickock 6000A. I wouldn't hesitate to give her a go on my Sencore if I was relatively sure it was an EL84. I do know that some testers are easier to damage than others, but I just don't know about the Hickock. It would be safest to have someone with that tester chime in.
