I have a 80s U.S. boxed Philips/ECG EF86 that is really a Russian - and it's also branded 'made in England' with the Philips logo too. It's not a 'fake' - but it was pretty common towards the end of Euro/US tube production to outsource tubes and pass them off as something else.
