that is a good point and I do sometimes wonder about the power tubes that I have given up on because they didn't work well in triode mode. I have considered going back to UL, or getting a switch if my circuit will permit it, so I can take a second look at some tubes.I only make the triode comment on the EH 6CA7 as I think the OP mentioned he had considered that. Some folks on this forum gave advice that these tubes were good in triode mode, and I thought it reasonable to make it clear that this is not always the case.
