It could possibly be from a cell phone or cordless unit. I've heard interference from cell phones sound like a rythmic ticking/ clicking through audio systems more than once. If the input tubes aren't shielded, they would be more prone to picking up something like this. Is the noise routinely there, at certain times (power up...,) or does it come and go?
