I have a 233 and have been using the EH7591a tubes for about a year.
They fit. Imo the EH7591 is a nice sounding tube in the 233. I assume it would sound just as nice in a 299c.I have not found any new 5ar4 that I like/trust. I would find a nos or lightly used 5ar4. There is a lot of them out there for not much $.
