In my Welborne 45 DRD I prefered the GZ37 to the supplied Sovtek 5ar4. I bought a "few" more for long term room stash. I plan to try them in my Fosgate FAP-V1 preamplifier soon just for fun. Everyone hears differently. In my amps I seem to prefer the sound of the GZ37 better in most applications so far. I also tried one of my NOS Mullard GZ34 rectifiers in the DRD. The GZ37 is now in my amps. Different 5ar4/gz34 rectifiers made by different companies are going to sound different in different gear, but only one company made the GZ37 (Mullard). Lots of people say you can not use them in the Dynaco ST-70 but Uncle Ned never heard of one transformer damaged by using a GZ37 instead of a gz34 in a ST-70 amplifier. Why not try all 3 and then you can simply decide for yourself which sounds the best? Good luck! John
