Yes. the sound are different.
I like the triode mode because you can remove the global negative feedback circuit, leaving the sound more open, relaxed and natural. This is why I still use tubes: do circuits without global NF.
With pentode, most cases they use global NF, giving a more analytical sound.
Put a switch in your amp to listen to the two modes.
Also, put a switch to eliminate the global NF when you are in triode mode.
Listen to it to see what is better with your system.
