Before doing any tube rolling, make sure your upstream is taken care of. That includes the AC outlet, the powercord, and any powerline conditioner you may be using. If you work the AudioPrism Debut II, you can get it to punch way above its weight. I'd definitely start with an Oyaide SWO-XXX outlet. Simply put, this will allow the Debut II to achieve its (rather lofty) potential.
Avoid the typical slow, ponderous, bass-heavy aftermarket powercords. If you want the Debut II to kick ass, go with an Acrolink 6N powercord with Oyaide P/C-037 connectors. To make it more exquisitely defined, with a soundstage like a model of a building, go with the Acrolink P/C-046.
Again, avoid powerline conditioners that bloat the bass and file off transients.
So, once you provide a neutral platform for the Debut II, you can have fun tube rolling. Out of the current producion stuff, the EH isn't bad. It's not the most detailed, but it doesn't play funhouse mirror with the music. If you need a slash & burn type of sound, Sylvania black plates will give it. For a good overall sound, try a Siemens ECC81. If you want to make everything sound like Don Henley's "Boys Of Summer," try the GE 6201. If you want the easiest amount of info, and are willing to pay, find some Telefunken ECC801Ses. After going through many 12AT7s in the Debut II, I took the easy way out, and found 4 Telefunken ECC801Ses.
I can talk about the EL34/6CA7 later, if you wish.
