Im a strong advocate of penta shuguang that Jeff speaks of but they are getting hard to come by as of late..I have some valve art kt88s that are made by shuguang also and I will tell you what,these are babies are full of depth and definition and realism about as good as I have heard..They are quite what the solid plates are but for 80 a quad or less,they are a steal.
Also the kt100 is very good to but they are more money and are kind of scarce. The early VA kt88s had some problems so I decided to give them another try.The others were nos 4 year old tubes I inherited but these are 2006 made tubes and so far they are dream tubes.
Now the only reason Im mentioning the VA kt88s is becuase they are cheap to buy and sound fantastic and the pentas seem hard to get.
