I am actually UNDERWHELMED, relatively negative with the Cary & AES stuff. Merely OK. Best monos ever are Fisher 125 AZs ca. 1959. Eico HF60s are great. So are Eico 50s, 35s etc. I would LOVE to buy a pair of Eico HF50s. Only HEARD the 50s at a friends. Marantz 5s are AWESOME but not worth the $ sonically. Collector amps. Ditto for model 9 Marantz. Radio Craftsman RC500s are great. Leak anything is awesome. Real Fairchild 255s rock (not those SILLY ones on ebay awhile back that were "FINOS"-- Fairchild in name only. The guy had just the chassis, so he used old Triad iron and friggin' Dynaco Stereo 70 trnsformers-- OK xformers, but not like the real thing! Funky wiring job too. The following aren't monos, but the HK Citation II rocks; Dynaco MKIIIs with Triode Electronics' SDS power supply board and new input boards are INCREDIBLE. The list goes on.
