Hi guys,
I have a 40+ year old Citation II with the origional output tubes in it and another that I installed a set of Mullard KT88's in in 1974. Both amps have a lot of hours on them and both use a solid state voltage doubler power supply that is instant on. All tubes test strong. This should say volumes about the "problem" of cathode stripping in a Properly designed amp. The amps bring up the negative bias as quick if not quicker than the B+
I have an transmitter that has 3000 volts on the plates of the output tubes and 2500 volts volts on the plates of the modulator and you defnitely warm those tubes up first. You even warm up the mercury vapor rectifier tubes before applying high voltage to them.
