marvdal,You may be using the 6H23n-EB already as that is the Russian designation for what is called in Western terms the Sovtek and EH 6922. The 6H23n is more or less a 6DJ8 and the "-EB" suffix is the more rugged version that corresponds to 6922/E88CC.
I've use a few of the 6DJ8 family - well 17 in three pieces of tube gear- since 1987, and several of these have been Sovteks, because my preamp (Audio Research SP10, 1987)uses 12 of this type and by pushing them along, it devours anything except the 6H23n-EB or 7308/E188CC in 20 -200 hours.
The good feature of the 6H23n-EB is it's current handling capacity:
6DJ8 ratings:
ECC88 = 6DJ8 -- 130V/1,8W
E88CC= 6922 -- 220V/1,8W
E188CC= 7308 -- 250V/2W
6N23P/ Sovtek 6922 -- 300V/1,8W
6N23P-EV/ EH 6922 -- 300V/2W
-and you can see from 6DJ8/ECC88 to the EH6922 a big difference in what electrons it will take!
The 6H23n-EB would not be my choice in equipment that doesn't require it's toughness- the sound is acceptable and they can be quiet and non-microphonic, but not exciting sounds by any standard. Before buying, check with the maker of your preamp and see if you can use a 6DJ8/ECC88 and the choices of really great sounding tubes is expanded to a dozen choices.
Also, visit "Joe's Tube Lore" in the FAQ secton of this site, which discusses individual makes and models of the 6DJ8 family. I don't agree with all his comments and some of the tubes mentioned are extremely uncommon now and very expensive, but I think it will help understand the 6DJ8 family- which I find to be one of the more difficult tubes to get properly sorted.
For 6DJ8 preamp tubes, you will probably have happier results with choices like the Amperex Bugleboy 6DJ8 or Siemens 6922 than the 6H23n-EB -which will never hope to do as well sonically. Starting out, you might also save money and time contacting a good dealer like out friend Kevin Deal who can recommend and sell thoroughly tested tubes. I went the DIY route and:

1- Siemens E88CC- NOS
2- Amperex US CEP E188CC- ANOSI hate to think what the above cost in time and $$$$ and really I think of the 80 tubes listed above, because of the demanding SP10, I have only about 10 tubes with the rating and quality that I can actually use.
