Dear Mr. Behr-
I have some Brimar black base red lettered. They are grey plates which are top gettered no collection points yet so they must be newish. American style short bottles. They are simply worded BVA below the large Brimar curved letters, "Made in England". There are some sort of factory code numbers 3 and a 3 6 on one. The other matching tube exact same construction, has an A on one side a 5 on ther, they are acid etched 2f3 and 4d4 respectively also they are etched as 6SN7GT.
I bought them directly from my English source rather inexpensively about $65 for both as a matched pair which Iconfirmed .
These are clean fabulous sounding tubes, they are not "British sounding" they are very neutral. I have another pair or Brimar short bottles like these but they were running out of gas and somewhat different in that they were more colored sounding with the physical aspects different as well. I have no idea if this is simply, a typical, easy to find, type of Brimar or not.
I have also been impressed by the plain old Raytheon GTB with yellow letters as expected for this GTB, but they are in exceptional condition.
Never heard the TS round plate and probably never will. Just a tad too rich for my blood, but if you want to unload your single???
I have several pairs of VT231s most of which I enjoy but this last set of non Mullard looking Brimars is as clean and sweet a pair of 6SN7s I have heard and are my current favorites. My best 231s I gave away and I wasn't a real collector at the time, but I kept a pair formyself the JAN RCA Grey Glass fortunately.
I would like to give an Honorable mention to my Black glass NU GTs No idea what the plates are I cant make them out from the top. Again for sheer strength of signal no distortion and neutrality. Please shoot me an email. I have been looking for Ken Rads I may have something you want as well but not these Brimars. Any non 6SN7s interest you? I have a ton of 6SN7s but nothing real exotic. Any other inputs etc. We can discuss do you like 5751s?? got a whole bunch to pick from. Thanks
