I put the tubes in question back in service today...and now they're fine. I've concluded that they don't actually run any hotter (or "brighter" for that matter) than any other ECL82s I have on hand here. But they do get toasty, which, I guess, is characteristic of their use in circuit.As far as the hum goes...maybe the pins were contaminated and a couple of removal/install cycles cleaned them. I dunno.
Anyhow, they arrived factory-sealed (via Odessa) in 12 days. Nice tubes from the Motherland! Especially nice at $4 a pop.
