BobGobbs, hi. Here's the magic answer. It all depends. Seriously. There are so many variables: the circuit itself & the operating points for the tube in that device. Some "tube" gear for pro/sumer gear runs a tube like the 12AX7 at low voltage because doing a proper power supply would cost more. This is horrible practice. Often the tube becomes a marketing ploy more than the reason the designer(s) created the thing in the first place. Even with a purpose built tube device properly designed the answer is found in trying and listening. This is essential in regard to microphony.
