I tried both tubes in a Supratek Cortese I once had.... Generally preferred the GZ33- better microdynamic performance, but no two samples of either rectifier sounded identical (I tried about 8 different samples- If I still had the pre, I would have had Don Allen convert it to use a 6BY5)....But on the other hand, aside from the GZ37 being in a longer "ST" package, the internal plate structures (Mullard) look identical.
