Re: Where to Purchase new tubes

I have used TubeMonger.com amongst several others and he has some truly unique but the correct tubes for many applications (I have my own tester when he say NOS they are really strong no nonesense). Ask them what you want, but they are a good NOS type operation.( not real inexpensive but not a ridiculous.) I rarely buy replacement new tubes from him. Iam an inveterate roller and like to try tubes that may offer something special.
That said, it never hurts to learn of good carefully considered new production. Jim McShane is very careful from the way he describes the tubes in his posts and sounds like he puts a lot of effort and experience into selecting the better new products. As a rule it's smarter to get the right new tubes that are high quality. The older stuff, which is potentially the best tube for your personal preferences, are almost never by definition, super reliable, that is a serious trade off.
I agree that Brent Jesse is very good and similar in his approach for modern production but also offers some of the best NOS tubes. Obviously those are costlier and often not in stock. However should you let the rolling bug bite you he knows what should look for.
