Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I recently biased a new quad of EH 7868's to 30ma in my Fisher 400. This was per the tech who refurbished the amp, as this was the bias point that he used for the stock Fisher-labeled Sylvanias that were in the unit when I shipped it to him.The EH's sound pretty darn good biased to 30ma, but on some music that I am very familiar with, I do notice a little bit of distortion (?) on some instruments. Listening to "The Cream of Clapton", it sounds like he has changed the strings on his guitar. I'm not sure how else to describe this, but the tone of the guitar is different than when I play the CD on my other system (Harmon Kardon AVR 740 driving the same speakers, Klipsch Cornwalls).
Would this be a symptom of having the tubes biased too "cool" ? Can anyone recommend a bias point for these tubes?
Thanks again,
Scott
