Mark, hi I think it would not be a big deal to convert the amp to use EL34 if that is what you'd like. The XS (excess-get it?) versions of their amps were made for EL34. I'd check with Ed at cj.
If memory serves I think it was Harry P at Ab Snd that championed an EL34 version of whatever it was that started the XS thing. A good tech familiar with cj could convert it. Happy listening!
