I have gotten heavy use for about 5 years now from 4 Telefunken 6dj8's in my Sonic Frontiers preamp...looking to do some positive tweaking for my system, I recently wondered if they might be on the downside of performance--though I heard no noticeable evidence of that. Just for fun, I tried out 4 EI Eltes for a few days...and in my opinion, though they are nice, inexpensive current production tubes--the NOS Telefunkens totally smoked them performance-wise.
So...I have re-installed the Telefunkens...How many years of solid performance can I expect from them?...and what are the signs I should be listening for that indicate decline?...thanks for any guidance
