I suggest JJ/Tesla EL84 & an Amperex Holland 12AX7. I have not found a sweet 12AX7 in a new manufactured tube. Sovtek 12AX7LPS tall plate are not a bad tube, but do fall short of an Amperex. I should mention Mullard 12AX7 tall plate are slightly better than an Amperex, but at $50+ per tube, rather expensive.Another option is to change out the speaker as speakers effect the sonics greatly. I do like new Jensen MOD series for better definition.
