That getting an NOS pair of TungSol 5U4GB for about $25-$30 a PAIR (in boxes!) will save you tremendous money and give equal if not better performance. That $ could be far better spent elsewhere on input tubes or music, and if there is one thing I know 100% FOR SURE, it's that 1940s and 1950s USA rectifiers of the filamentary cathode type, 5U4, 5U4G, and 5U4GB especially, are perhaps without equal, and one hell of a bargain also. Skip the Salon/boutique rectifiers. Also, I actually like the GB version of both TungSol and RCA as well as Raytheon 5U4 better than the pricer early "no letter 5U4" and 5U4G versions-- though that sexy ST glass is nice on the 5U4G. The TungSol 5U4GB is so punchy, dynamic, and... FAST that nothing else of 5U4 variety is better, just a bit different. And on the balance inferior IMHO.
