wish i could help, but the $15.00 Tung-Sol 12AX7 reissue is sooo good- i use them in my 1968 Fender Twin Reverb, 1974 Ampeg VT-40, and Harmon Kardon A230("Ballard") integrated amp and they sound right fine for the price. if the price differential was a bit higher between the two tubes, i would be tempted to give the JJ's a try. you are right on that small signal tubes are getting better and better! later...don
