Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
I have a tube linestage and a tube amp. Both utilize tube rectification. Is the use of a rectifier "sufficient" when it comes to treating the tubes right by providing for a "soft start," or should there be an even slower ramp up and different timing for application of plate voltage? If more is better, in terms of startup protection, how does one implement such protection? Can one simply insert a thermistor in series in the power line, or does this have a deleterious effect.
I am a complete dummy on technical mattters, but fortunately, I have some friends who could be of help if you have some ideas on what I should do.
Thanks.
