Most amps will blow a fuse when they have a power tube short out (you may have turned off your amp before this point was reached) abd you may not have damaged the auto bias circuit, just got the plastic hot enuf to put out a smell.

However, just a few weeks ago I put in a new set of tubes in an amp w/auto bias and one tube (and the amp) got very hot, the amp was putting out a mild smell - I noticed that the one tube had red plates, but not cherry red all over. I assumed I had bad tube and put in another tube which glowed red, then I put the original tube back in and it glowed red as well. I sent the amp back for repairs (under warranty) and it was adjusted, returned, and now works fine. The point of which it to watch that tube/socket that gave you a problem. If the EL34 in that socket works well, without turning red, you've probably dodged a bullet.
