the tubes will last not quite as long as they would if there was no glow. Minor glow is probably ok and will not damage anytyhing but will shorten tube life. You might consider the 845M from Supertnt.com - it's a metal plate 845 (made by Shuguang but sold only by SuperTNT AFAIK), but it has higher plate dissipation rating than 845C (which is the old 845M from SUperTNT). the 845M from TNT should be fine w/ no plate glow evident. it had 100W+ dissipation vs. about 70w potential dissipation on 845C.-Ed
