6550s, eh? Not 6550As? Etched and USA. 3 getters. Can only be Sylvanias, though I don't quite recall that code format off the top of my head. Sinces it's marked USA, it can only be a Tung Sol, GE, or Sylvania. If it were a GE, whether GE or OE branded, the type etched on the bottle would be 6550A, not 6550. Even when OE-branded, Tung Sol 6550s always had the type marked inside an octagon on the top of the tube; and Tung Sols, again whether TS or OE branded, would also usually have the type silkscreened on base ring. Of course, TSs were THE original 6550, always labeled as 6550s, never as "As", "Bs", "WAs", whatever, etc. etc.SO, from your description it sounds like a Sylvania.
Keepers? I'd say most certainly. Some folks feel that in the hierarchy of US-made 6550s, very broadly speaking, these are closest to the TSs. Of course some folks may like them better, some less, some not at all... I'd be happy to alleviate any confusion you may have by just sending the burden of these tubes to me ;)
