I'll go one more round with upgrading tubes.
I spoke with Jolida quite a bit and they were upfront stating that the KT88s sound great in the 502B, but in their expereince there is a 30-50 percent fail rate with the KT88s and NOS tubes, which is why they ship with the tubes they do. The stock tubes dont sound bad. They sound good. The upgraded tubes sounded different and better. But Jolida swears by the 6550 tubes from a reliabilty standpoint.
Im inclined to think I had a couple unfortunate rounds with some weak tubes since the amp tested out just fine. Im keeping my fingers crossed. OR heading back to SS.
