while its noble endeavor, the results you're looking for might not be achievable. Here's my logic:* Most recording studios, especially in the analog days, held their own engineering teams. These guys did cool things with the gear that was bought, including building their own amps, mic preamps, compressors, etc. In fact, one of the best known of this sort, Bill Putnam, ended up building gear for other studios and ended up starting United Audio and UREI as a result.
* Many of these same engineers would also not necessarily go back to the original vendor of the gear for maintenance and repair parts when needed.
As a result, your documentation would, if compiled according to the vendor's records, could be valid but I don't think you could assume that's what was used at a specific recording. I have seen some old jazz LPs that listed the equipment used but never one that listed the brands of tubes.
