I am not sure what 'tube like' means sonically. To me either good or bad sonics exists. Transistor are the worst with constricted and unrealistic sounding sonics.One tube in the EL84 family is the GE 6BQ5 188-5 code with grey oval plates that sounds fairly good. However, I now prefer 6V6GT in triode connected. Perhaps the 6BQ5 (EL84) is more tube sounding whereas the 6V6GT just disappears and lets the music flow.
