Ei12AX7 Tubes ...What A Disappointment!

After all the positive reviews I've read about Ei12AX7's I expected better performance. Compared to Sovtek 12AX7LPS, the Ei's seem bloated and unfocused.

They are way too bassy for my tastes. I had to turn down my subwoofer about 25%. The imaging is often chaotic, unfocused and disorganized. Strong instuments bloom a lot. When I listen to Cassandra Wilson's "Traveling Miles", the bass and the rest of the instruments seem to bleed into one another a bit. There's no imaging going on at all. They sound out of control or something.

I hate those tubes! I can't see how anyone would recommend them. I have about 10 hours on them. Perhaps a longer break-in period? I'm going to let them run when I'm not home on the weekend.

I found Sovtek 12AX7LPS and vintage Baldwin 12AX7 tubes to be awesome in my 1501 so far.
