6188 is a 6SL7 with close matching of sections.
I have always thought the vintage 6SL7's sounded more musical than the latter Phillips 6188's.
There are lots of 1940's and 1950's vintage 6SL7's around.
RCA, Tungsol, Ken Rad, Sylvania are all good bets and frequently sell at bargain prices on ebay.
The situation for the vintage versions of this tube is much better from a price perspective than the 6SN7.Happy hunting!
