Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |

How reliable are modern tube amps? As an audiophile, I keep being drawn into the warmness of tubes but can I trust the reliability of tubes? I have been using solid state amps for the past 7 years - mostly because of economics ( not sure if its true but highend tube amps are more expensive compared to solid state )and partly because of convenience. Anyway I am about to trade in my Krell for a VAC or Cary tube amp. Will I be entering a life of "blown tubes" and finicky biasing? Any general comments on the Cary V12R or VAC auricle musicblocs?thanks for your replys in advance.
