A whole lot of people learned by reading Ned Carlson's posts in RAT.
Search at www.deja.com with something like, "Ned" +tube +manufacturer +construction
A lot of other knowledgable people will be involved in the discussions along with useful links. It will be worth your time.
Trim your search to specific manufacturers, and author searches on the other guys who have specific knowledge about a type of tube you are interested in.
Of course searching this forum will be productive also.
Don't accept *everything* as fact until it is verified by many references.
Ned really did teach thousands about tubes ;-)
