Personally anywhere an EL84 lives, I think an EL86 lives better, although sometimes voltage & bias has to be changed.I'm just curious if anyone has tried this : the gain is lower, but there is still probably enough gain, and the EL86 has lower Rp so the Zo and bass... should be a little better.
I don't know what the stock voltage is on the Almarro, but I bet it is lower than the 250V max on some EL86's. It is Single ENded, so no reason to go over 250V unless someone has a really different transformer match.
