can't you just put the capicators back in? If I understand correctly, you only removed them to see if it'd improve the tone/sound. since it made things worse, not better, I'd go for just reinstalling them.

I don't know, maybe I'm missing something here, but the obvious and easy solution is just to restore the amp to it's condition before the hum and clicking.
