Actually, I was looking for a tube that was a better fit in my system than the Sovtek KT-88's. Based on what I had read and a conversation I had with Kevin Deal at Upscale Audio, I felt that these Tungsol reissue tubes are worth a try. They could have been called something else besides Tungsol and I would have still tried them. And frankly, the original Tungsol 6550's are out of my price range as are several NOS tubes.
