I am sure there is confusion on Ebay and Audiogon given the boxes being like the old tube boxes and lacking the wooden outer box. I think the '95 production in wooden boxes is quite inferior to '50s, '60s, and '70s WE 300Bs but don't know about the '05s and '06s.I have heard from no one who has compared the '05s with '60s, but suspect the '05s sound as inferior as the '95s.
Bottom line, I expect there has just been a price reduction to compete. I have never heard another 300B that can compete even with '95 production.
