IMHO the only one worthwhile for audio work is the 12AX7LPS. The 12AX7LP is the same tube without the spiral filament which means it generates more hum when heated by AC. The LPS (S = spiral filament) does not have any hum issues at all. It's very quiet and very neutral, which means that it works very well as the lowest level tube. A neat trick is to use it first for it's quietness and "flavor" the component in the next stage with whatever tube has the tone you want.Some of the early "W" series tubes are like fingernails on a blackboard for me - ouch!
