You are not missing anything and that is a lot of $ for matching. Your amp will function best with each channel having a matched pair rather than 4 tubes that could be considerably different from each other. Of course a matched quad would be even better. I guess I was just trying to say that 2 matched pairs would be better than 4 unmatched tubes.
