Make sure the unit isn't leaving the tubes in stand by all the time. I noticed with my AI modulus 2 that when it's plugged in the tubes are always on. I bet this is a big reason the AI has such a bad rap about being hard on tubes. I always unplug mine when it's not in use. I also had it modded for less voltage to the tube. It had 250 volts to the tube. Now it's around 220. I have not had a new tube go noisy yet (fingers crossed) but the pre amp is only on for 8 to 10 hours a week. All my noisy tubes were used ones I bought. Find a fairly inexpensive tube you like and buy a bunch of them while you still can.By the way... Anyone have a few NOS Siemens Germany 6922's for sale?
