kbuzz:If you really want an octal tube (6SN7) based preamp, I would highly recommend one of the deHavilland Verve series preamps. I owned an Ultra-Verve and it was excellent. However, my real recommendation would be a Dave Slagle/Intact Audio auto-former based attenuator. Dave sells a $200 partial kit (around $400 - $500 for a completely built unit by a tech friend) that was as good as my $2500 Ultra-Verve + $200 for a top-notch tube compliment.
